I’ll never understand why people disliked Christopher Eccleston/the Ninth Doctor.
I thought his portrayal of the Doctor was amazing. He nailed this dark, self-loathing cynicism of someone still ridden with guilt, the sarcasm of someone watching history repeat itself while still having such a deep respect for everything alive except pretty much himself
He was a good version of the byronic hero because you got to watch him grow and change
When he looks at Rose in her new outfit in the Unquiet Dead

that look of a man completely overwhelmed and in love
and you get to see him over time learn to trust others close to him
it’s beautiful
it is absolutely beautiful
